Description

This book focuses on the outstanding military achievements of the Cossack Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny at sea and on land. The author analyzes the naval campaign of the Cossacks in 1616, which ended with the conquest of the mighty Turkish fortress of Kafa. The main attention is paid to the detailed coverage of the combat actions of P. Sahaidachny’s troops during the Polish-Muscovite War of 1617–1618. The author reveals the strategy and tactics of the Ukrainian Cossacks’ struggle against the Muscovites, particularly on the examples of largescale combat raids of P. Sahaidachny’s units in the territory of the Moscow Kingdom, the Cossacks’ forcing large water obstacles, and their siege of enemy fortresses.
Emphasis is given to the coverage of events related to the storming of the capital of Muscovy by the Rzeczpospolita troops.
