The book by Saint Demetrius of Rostov, “The Dewed Fleece,” recounts miracles associated with the miraculous Icon of the Mother of God known as the “Ilyinska” icon and is one of the author’s most renowned works. First published in Chernihiv in 1683, it quickly gained wide popularity and was reissued five times during the author’s lifetime.

After each account of a miracle, the author offers a short spiritual reflection and moral teaching, enriched with examples from the lives of saints, giving the work a strong theological and didactic character.

This edition is the first Ukrainian translation of The Dewed Fleece. It is intended for a broad readership, including historians, scholars of religion, cultural researchers, philologists, and all those interested in the history of Chernihiv, the Hetmanate era, and 17th-century Ukrainian Baroque literature.

Translation, foreword, and commentary by Myroslav Mai-Boroda.
