Due to historical circumstances, a significant portion of documentary sources relating to the history of Ukraine from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries is preserved in Russian archives that remain largely inaccessible to Ukrainian researchers. For this reason, the introduction of such archival materials into scholarly circulation is of particular importance for a deeper understanding of the history of the Ukrainian state and its relations with Muscovy.

This volume publishes the inventories of Fond 124, “Little Russian Affairs,” preserved in the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts. The collection includes materials from the Posolsky Prikaz, the Little Russian Prikaz, the Ambassadorial Chancellery, and the College of Foreign Affairs. The inventories provide insight into the structure and composition of the fond, define the chronological scope of the documents, and reveal their thematic focus, content, and historical specificity.
