This book presents a series of essays written between 2016 and 2020, in which the author reflects on key developments in Ukraine’s language policy. The essays focus on the struggle of civil society and the patriotic, state-oriented part of the eighth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada to secure the full implementation of Ukrainian as the state language in all spheres of public life throughout the entire territory of Ukraine.

The volume portrays a complex confrontation with advocates of the “Russkiy Mir” ideology, who sought to preserve the dominance of the Russian language as a political tool. Particular attention is given to the exposure of disinformation, lies, and manipulative propaganda technologies employed by Russia and its “fifth column” in an effort to maintain Russian-speaking environments in Ukraine as a potential foothold for further territorial aggression.
