This book presents the results of recent research into the key issues of World War I (1914–1918), a conflict that marked the beginning of a new era in the history of human civilization. It enables readers to grasp the depth of armed confrontation, the трагедію of nations drawn into war, and the irreversible changes in human mentality and psychology. The масштаб of social upheaval is explored through the destruction of everyday life, economic disruption, declining living standards, famine, and the suffering of millions.

At the same time, the volume highlights profound changes in public consciousness, the rise of charitable initiatives, and the усилення of national movements. In the Ukrainian context, the war acted as a catalyst for the formation of a modern nation that gradually transformed from an object of international politics into an active political subject.
