The book tells the story of Mezhyhiria, a picturesque area near Kyiv whose history is filled with legends, oral traditions, and dramatic events. It provides a detailed account of the Kyiv-Mezhyhiria Monastery, beginning with its legendary founding in the 12th century. Special attention is given to the period when it functioned as a kind of “military” church of the Zaporizhzhia Sich.

The publication also examines the faience factory that operated on the monastery grounds after its closure at the end of the 18th century, the monastery’s later restoration, and its subsequent closure following the establishment of Soviet power in Ukraine. The narrative concludes with the destruction of monastic buildings and churches, the loss of cultural heritage, and the transformation of the site into a state residence.
